The Hall of Famer hit the towering blast in an extra-inning win over the Chicago White Sox at Comiskey Field. Mantle hit the homer in the 4th inning of the second game of a double header. The Yankees would go on to win in 10 innings by a score of 5-4. The ball was recovered by a parking lot attendant. Only Jimmie Fox had ever hit a ball out of the park in 1936.
